DAY 1: ARRIVE GUWAHATI

Meet and greet upon your arrival by our Driver. Transfer to your hotel, after check in and freshen up for local sightseeing of Guwahati, the Capital city of Assam and Gateway of Northeast, it is the Central business region of Northeast. Among the city sightseeing Second world war Cemetery, State Museum, State Zoo and Botanical Garden, Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra (A museum of Assam diverse culture), and Regional Science Museum. Among the Temples are - Maa Kamakhya temple, Navagraha Temple, Bashistha Ashram. Tirupathi Balaji and you can also visit Umananda Island (The smallest inhabited island of India)There is a Shiva temple in the island and the only way to go there is ferry. Overnight accommodation will be will be at Guwahati.

DAY 2: GUWAHATI – SHILLONG (150 KM / 2-3 Hrs)

After breakfast transfer to Shillong (150 Kms). The ‘Scotland of the East’ lies in the centre of a plateau surrounded by Khasi hills.  En-route visit Umium lake Barapani Park. After lunch go for sightseeing.

 

The gorgeous city offers amazing tourist spots. The sightseeing includes Don Bosco Museum of Indigenous Culture, Ward’s Lake is popular for short garden walks & boating, Botanical Garden offers plethora of indigenous and exotic plants & rare collection of orchids, Lady Hydari Park is a Japanese style landscaped park endowed with stretches of roses & exquisite flowers. The Mini Zoo adjacent to the park has about 73 birds, 140 reptiles & mammals, Golf Course - One of the largest Golf courses in Asia is an 18 hole Golf Course is charted amidst a surging valley full of thick pine groves & rhododendron trees. Spend the evening in the splendid arena, Elephant Falls is a mountain stream gorging down two successive falls set in dells of fern covered rocks; Shillong Peak displays a mesmerizing view of the scenic country side.

 

Umain Lake popularly known as Barapani, this is the biggest artificial lake in the State. Surrounded by sylvan hills and wrapped in the beauty of an assortment of green Khasi-pines and the azure blue skies. Developed upon the reservoir of the Umiam Hydro Electric Project, the Water Sports Complex provides a choice of row-boats, paddle-boats, cruise boats, sailing boats, water scooters and speed boats. This is a very popular place for picnic, fishing and water sports. M.T.D.C. had started operating water-sports in the area. Overnight accommodation will be in Shillong.
 

DAY 3: SHILLONG – CHERRAPUNJEE – SHILLONG (~150 KMS)

After Breakfast, excursion to Cherrapunjee. The sightseeing points: Ramakrishna School and Museum, Eco Park, Nohsngithiang Falls, Nohkalikai Waterfalls, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View, Mawsmai Cave and Arwah Cave. Later return back to Shillong Hotel.

 

Cherrapunjee is framed as the wettest place on Earth is 60 kms from Shillong. The journey from Shillong to Cherrapunjee offers a pleasant drive as one witness numerous waterfalls & gorges. Longer stay gives opportunity to the visitor to explore limestone caves & waterfalls, the amazing living root bridges and galore of water & adventure activities. While the must visit places are the gorgeous Seven Sisters falls and the Mawsmai cave is in your tour plan. Overnight accommodation will be in Shillong.

 

DAY 4: SHILLONG – NAMERI NATIONAL PARK

Today after breakfast transfer to Nameri. Overnight accommodation will be in Nameri Eco Camp/Jia Bhorali.

 

Nameri National Park is 200 sq kms area is located in the Sonitpur district, bordering Arunachal Pradesh and it is also the core area of Nameri Tiger Reserve (344sq kms). It is the home of  Mammals like Elephant, Tiger, leopard, Sambar, Barking deer, Hog Deer, Wild Boar, Gaur, Slow Loris, Gaplangur, Burmese Ferret Badger, and over 350 species of birds including White-winged Wood Duck, Ibis bill (uncommon), Ruddy Kingfisher, Palla’s fishing eagle, Lesser Adjutant stork , Greater spotted Eagle, Rufous necked hornbill, Great pied Indian hornbill, Wreathed hornbill, Long-billed Ringed Plover, Sultan Tit, and Yellow-bellied and White-throated Fantails. This park is particularly famous for spotting the endangered bird species – “White Wing Wood Duck” – The state bird of Assam. Another important wild life sanctuary of Arunachal Pradesh the Pakhui (Pakke) Wildlife Sanctuary adjoins the Park on its North-Eastern point. The river Jia- Bhoroli and its tributaries namely the Diji, Dinai, Doigurung, Nameri, Dikorai, and Kharietc crisscross the park. During rainy season few Jheels also dot the area. Activities in Nameri National Park are walking trail and white-water Rafting in Jia Bhorali.

 

DAY 5: NAMERI NATIONAL PARK – DIRANG (180 KMS / 6-7 Hrs)

Before breakfast, you can go for walking trail in Nameri by crossing Jai Bharoli River by local boat, walk around 1 kms on the sandbar and reach forest range with a forest guard. Forest trekking will start till the watch tower. Relax on the watch tower for any hour and enjoy the birds, butterflies and animals of the forest. Return back to the resort and have your breakfast.

 

After Breakfast transfer to Dirang. En-route you will be visiting the following beautiful places: Tipi Orchid Sanctuary and Research Centre. Overnight accommodation will be in Dirang.

 

Dirang: Situated at an altitude of 1497 meters. It is an ideal hill resort in West Kameng district with beautiful Kiwi Farm, Buddhist Gompa, Hot Water Spring and ancient Dirang Jong. It is also the base camp for trekking to Gorichen peak and other bird watching trails.

 

DAY 6: DIRANG – TAWANG (150 KMS / 6-5 Hrs)

After breakfast transfer to Tawang. While going to Tawang you will be visiting: Jaswant Garh, Sella Pass and Nurarang Falls. Overnight accommodation will be in Tawang.

 

DAY 7: TAWANG

After Breakfast, Full day exploration of Tawang which includes the major ones are:

 

Tawang Monastery (Gaden Namgyal Lhatse): Tawang Monastery about 400 years old, situated at an altitude of approximately 10,000 ft. is the second largest Buddhist monastery in India. It also holds the distinction of being the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. The monastery is the house of more than 700 monks. 

 

Urqelling Monastery: It is the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama who is the only Indian to have risen to such a high position in Gelupka Sect of Buddhism so far. Inside the monastery there are several Stupas and people from all walks of life visit this place during Buddhist New Year to get the blessing for the coming year. 

 

The Craft Center: The craft center in Tawang sells beautiful masks, hand woven carpets, jewellery in silver, coral and amber, ‘chubas’ the local dress and delightful affordable mementos.

 

Tawang War Memorial: After lunch around 3: 30 pm we will leave for Tawang War Memorial. The memorial is dedicated to the martyrs of the 1962 Sino-Indian war. The memorial is 40-foot-high and like a stupa in design. It is locally called ‘Namgyal Chortan’. The names of 2420 martyrs imprinted in gold on 32 black granite plagues.

 

Special attraction: At 4:30 pm we will have Light & Sound Show which will describe 1962 Sino-India war and the Hero’s of the war, about their struggle and martyrdom. Back to hotel. Overnight in Tawang.

 

 

DAY 8: TAWANG –BOMDILLA (190 KMS / 6-7 HRS)

After Breakfast transfer from Tawang to Bomdila. En-route visit Nurarang / Jung Falls. Overnight accommodation will be in Bomdila.

 

Bomdila is on the way to Tawang, situated at height of 8500 ft (distance from Tezpur 180 kms), Bomdila is a picturesque town in the foothills of Himalayas and the headquarter of West Kameng District the land of the Monpa, Sherdukpen, Aka (Hrusso), Miji and Bogun (Khawas) tribes. One can see the brilliant landscape and snow-clad Go richen ranges of the Himalaya on a clear day. The places of interest in Bomdila to visit:

 

Bomdila Monastery: The monastery has been built under the guidance of Dalai Lama. It is a residence of more than 200 Buddhist monks. From the monastery one can have the breathtaking view of the entire Bomdila. The time of pray is in dawn and dusk, attending which, one can have the absolute peace of mind.

 

Also visit Craft Center, where very fine wooden carpets of colorful designs and Masks are produced.


 
Bomdila also offers a Bird's eye view of Kangto and Go richen peaks (highest peaks in the state) amidst the Himalayan landscape and snow clad ranges.

 

DAY 9: BOMDILLA – GUWAHATI (360 KMS / 8-9 HRS)

After early breakfast, set can off to Guwahati. Overnight accommodation will be in Guwahati.

 

DAY 10: GUWAHATI DEPARTURE

After Breakfast, transfer to Guwahati Airport / Railway station for your departure.
