Wild Assam (11days)

This program is designed for the wildlife lovers and includes all the major parks of Assam. You’ll encounter the great diversity of wildlife and landscapes from grassland to marshlands, islands and tropical rain-fed forests.

 

You will be travelling through different parks terrains starting from grassland, woodlands, beels (large water bodies) and river so see different species of animals and birds. Our guides/Naturalist will be local to the parks that ensure that you see the best in the most frequent sighted spots.

Day 1: Arrival in Dibrugarh

Welcome at the airport and then transfer to Lodge. Night in heritage tea bungalow/ Hotel.

 

Day 2: Dibru-Saikhowa NP

Today early morning we drive to Tinsukia Later we visit Dibru-Saikhowa National Park and Magori Bheel for a full day birding programme. We take several boat rides on the Dibru River, go for jungle walk, bird and Gangetic Dolphin sighting. Later drive back to Dibrugarh. Night in Heritage Tea Bungalow.

 

Day 3: Dibrugarh – Jorhat (4 hrs – 140 Km)

After breakfast, leave for Jorhat District to arrive at a boutique heritage bungalow for your stay. En route you will be visiting the architecturally rich medieval ruins of the Ahom Dynasty that once ruled Assam for more than 600 mighty years. You will also visit the Tea Research Association at Tocklai where pioneering experiments and research is conducted to help tea growers. You will get a chance to interact with some of the scientists and professionals who are experts in their field. Evening will be free at leisure.

 

Day 4: Jorhat – Kaziranga NP (4 hrs – 190 Km)

Today in the morning drive to the Gibbon Sanctuary at Mariani. Here walk through the forest in the company of a local forest guard in search of Hoolock Gibbons, India’s only species of ape, as well as a wealth of birdlife. Later drive back to Jorhat. Then drive to Kaziranga. Night in hotel/resort/homestay.

 

Day 5: Kaziranga NP

Today, wake up little early and get ready to explore the forest on elephant back. Our representative will take you to the Elephant riding point by jeeps. Here you will be moving through the tall grass while the morning mists slowly lift is an experience that one won't forget easily. The Elephant ride is best means for wildlife viewing as the wild animals are not afraid of the elephants and it is possible to observe them from the very close. You will return to the resort for breakfast. After breakfast you will go on a first Jeep safari to the national park for wildlife viewing in the central zone. Later return to the resort for taking some rest and spent the time till lunch. After lunch you will go on a second jeep safari of the day, this time you will visit the Western zone of the national park. One can also spent some time at the Donga view point, situated in western zone. Night in hotel/resort/homestay.

 

Day 7: Kaziranga – Nameri NP (3 hrs – 120 Km)

Road to Nameri National Park on the foot hills of the Himalayas and bordering Arunachal Pradesh. If early arrival, you can enjoy a nature walk in the afternoon. Night in hotel or resort.

Many activities can be organized around the park: angling, rafting, hikes...

 

Day 8: Nameri NP

Today, go for some exciting activities: enjoy white river rafting, against the divine backdrop of lush forests and snow-capped mountains or try your hand at casting for the elusive and endangered golden mahseer fish, a denizen of the waters. This is part of an ecological campaign to save the mahseer - so part of the river is protected and the fish are caught and then released in a bid to stabilise their dwindling numbers. Night in hotel/lodge/camp.

 

Day 9: Nameri – Manas NP (7 hrs – 380 Km)

After breakfast, drive to Manas National Park. Night in Resort/Camp.

 

Day 10: Manas NP

Early morning you can go for an elephant Safari and return to the resort for breakfast. After breakfast, head to the India-Bhutan border where you can Picnic by the riverside. After having lunch, go for a jeep safari through the National Park. Evening come back to the hotel. Night in hotel/lodge/resort.

 

Day 11: Manas NP – Guwahati Airport (4 hrs – 140 Km)

Transfer to Guwahati airport (according to your flight schedule). End of our services.
